The Suck Valley
The River Suck, in the west of the county has good stocks of bream, roach, tench, rudd, perch and pike.The river flows through a 30 mile stretch of West Roscommon, and East Galway. It is a pleasant and undisturbed valley with many small lakes and an abundance of flora and fauna in its bogs and farmland.
Accomodation is available along the river. Most specialise in Catering for anglers and have bait/tackle storage facilities and private parking. The Mid River Shannon
The River Shannon with its vast inlets and back waters lies to the east. There are well developed sections of the lake in the Athlone-Kiltoom area where bags of bream and roach in excess of 100lbs are common .Lough Ree is the second largest lake on the Shannon system.The lake is noted for its big pike, and also produces specimen bream, Tench,Hybrids and Rudd each year.Accomodation is available locally and also in Athlone and Roscommon.Camping and Caravaning facilities are available in Hodson Bay and Knockroghery.

Boyle Area Lakes And Lough Key.
The Boyle River and its network of lakes, in the Elphin-Carrick-on-Shannon, and Boyle area has a great diversity of coarse angling. Tench to 6lbs are common in this area, and the head of roach is excellent here with mixed bags to 80lbs. Lough Key is just over a mile north-east of Boyle, County Roscommon.Lough key has good stocks of Perch, Pike, Trout, Bream, and Roach.The Area has many lakes most of which are equiped with fishing stands.Boat hire is available locally.
