Cycling

The Green Heartlands Cycle Trail, 220km

The Green Heartlands Cycle Trail is a 220km route which stretches from Roscommon to Athlone.The Trail is divided into a series of daily routes, which will take the cyclist through a series of small rural villages, but within close proximity to the larger provincial towns of Roscommon, Athlone and Ballinasloe. The trail winds through quiet country roads, through a variety of landscapes, bog, farmland, forest, wetland,rivers and lakes.

An Tain Cycle Route, 550km

The Táin Trail Cycling Route retraces the steps of Queen Maeve of Connaught and her armies in the tale of "The Tain bo cuailgne ". This famous epic tale of Maeve's attempt to steal the great brown bull of Cooley and passes their resting places and battle sites, bringing you from Royal Rathcroghan, Co Roscommon in the West, across the very heart of Ireland to the Mystical Cooley Peninsula on the East Coast and back again
