The Suck Valley Way, 100km

The Suck Valley Way is a 100km Waymarked Walk Way which runs through the Suck River Valley, incorporating parts of counties Roscommon and Galway. It is unusual among Irish Waymarked Walks because for most of its length it lies across lowland farms. It also traverses the boglands and callows along the river Suck with their numerous lakes and drainage channels.

The area is rich in history, and offers a unique opportunity to experience the life of rural Ireland, a glimpse of its history and the rich bird and plant life of the bogs and callows. The way is marked with black posts on which incised yellow arrows mark the direction. A variety of accommodation is available all along the Walk/River Suck in Bord Failte approved premices. The owners specialise in catering for walkers and provide meals & pack lunches. Arigna Miners Way And Historical Trail 118km

The Arigna Miner's Way and Historical Trail is a series of way-marked long distance walking routes that form a network of paths through three of Ireland's most picturesque and unspoilt counties of Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo.
The walk is 118 kilometres (74 miles) in length, ascends some 2000 feet and is best completed over a period of six to seven days. One can however, pick and choose individual sections of the walk and experience just some of the history & tranquility that is intrinsic to the unpolluted wilderness of the area. There are 14 stages to the walk and ( 13 ) 1 day loop walks. The Miners Way follows many of the paths used by the miners going to work in the Arigna coal mines. This section makes a circuit starting from Arigna and travelling via Keadue, Ballyfarnon and Corrie Mountain to return to Arigna.

The Historical Trail section Leaves the miners way at Keadue and loops through Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle, Carrowkeel, Castlebaldwin, Highwood, and returns to the Miners Way at Ballyfarnon.

The Cloonfad Walks 8 km

There are seven walking routes within the Cloonfad Walking Routes, and two Slí na Sláinte routes. The Cloonfad area of west Roscommon epitomises much of rural Irish life. With a landscape that is at once rugged and tranquil and a network of time-honoured walking routes, this is about as far as you can get from the pressures of modern living. The best place to begin an exploration of the area is the resource centre in Derrylahan.

Derrylahan Resource Centre also houses a range of contemporary visitor facilities and is an excellent starting point for modern walkers. There are seven signed walks in the area, all of which interconnect to allow a variety of route options. Six map boards carefully located, are clear and informative. They also provide starting points for the walks.

Guide maps and information pamphlets are available - all walking routes are colour coded and arrowed for visitor convenience
